15th Winner for Capitalist

Tara Madgwick - Sunday May 16

Newgate Farm's star sire Capitalist goes from strength to strength and added a 15th first crop winner to his tally on Saturday when the Mark Newnham trained colt Colour de Roy saluted at Kembla.

Resuming from a spell and having his third race start, Colour de Roy hit the line hard to overpower Capitalist filly Satin Ribbons, who led all the way before going down by a length and a half.

Colour de Roy broke the ice in good style and it’s not hard to see Satin Ribbons following suit in weeks to come.

Colour de Roy as a yearling

A $100,000 Magic Millions purchase for  Viribright Racing from the Bowness Stud draft , Colour de Roy was bred by Bowness and  is the first winner from Kaitlin Cove, a winning half-sister by Snitzel to Group III winner Sookie, the dam of dual Group I winner Shadow Hero.

The leading first crop sire and overall 2YO sire, Capitalist also had a new stakes horse on Saturday with Shihonka finishing third in the Listed Woodlands Stakes behind Xtremetime to become his 11th Black Type performer.
