Spirit Of Boom's Prince Of Boom Romps in the Spirit Of Boom Classic

Just six days after making a sensational debut at the Sunshine Coast, Prince of Boom did the right thing by the sponsor when he turned a competitive looking Group II Spirit Of Boom Classic (1200m) (Champagne Classic) at Doomben into a two and a half-length romp.

The third winner on the day for Ben Thompson, Prince Of Boom defeated the Maurice (JPN) filly Invinsible Tears with the Oddysey Moon filly Berdini's Girl a half-length back in third.

There was a sensation before the start when the heavily backed Maotai refused to load, and Giannis had to undergo a veterinary inspection after playing up in the barriers.

Trained by Robert Heathcote, Prince Of Boom was a bargain $20,000 purchase by Adrenaline Thoroughbreds out of the Eureka Thoroughbreds draft at the 2020 Magic Millions Gold Coast March Yearling Sale.

It was the fourth win in the race for Heathcote, following Chenar (2000), Funtantes (2009) and Rothfire last year.

Rothfire went on to win the Group I JJ Atkins at his next start and Price Of Boom will likely be given his chance in the season’s Group 1 finale for the two-year-olds.

Prince Of Boom is the only winner to date from four to race out of the winning Red Dazzler mare Dazzling Display a half-sister to the Group II Queensland Guineas winner Express Air (Piccolo).

Eureka Thoroughbreds will be offering a Smart Missile colt out of Dazzling Display out the Gold Coast National Yearling Sale Lot: 1732.

Prince Of Boom becomes the 13th stakes-winner for Eureka Stud’s Spirit Of Boom, who will command a fee of $33,000 in the forthcoming season.
