Media Release - Sunday May 9

John Sargent is finally going to test the inaugural 500k Gosford Coastal winner Brandenburg over a middle distance in the Doomben Cup.

"He is a half brother to my gun staying mare Luvaluva but Darren Thomas and his ownership group have been brilliantly patient with this bloke to date,"  said Sargent who watched today’s decisive victory from The Gold Coast.

"It seems like like we’ve been taking our time for ever but by resisting to put him over a trip and knocking back numerous offers to sell him we’re now ready to reap the reward. We’re hoping that his gelding and an extension In trip may result in him finding that extra length or 2 he needs to be a top liner," added Sargent.

After selling two mares at  Inglis’ record breaking Chairman's Mare sale on Friday night , Seymour Bloodstock's Mark Pilkington was trackside to celebrate Brandenburgs victory.

"Our ownership group is just so chuffed to have such a promising young horse. What a fabulous days racing at the progressive Gosford racing Club it was today- hopefully we’ve got one good enough to come back next year," he said.

Seymour Bloodstock part owned his older 1/2 sister Luvaluva who was a terrific staying mare for Sargent.

"He’s a great bloke and I spose when your look at his record he’s a pretty handy trainer,"  joked Pilkington.

Fierce Impact stands at Leneva Park this spring.

‘It’s so hard to get horses capable of training on to give owners a true run for their money but you still have to manage them. We’ve been fortunate to have raced the recently retired 3x G1 winning Australia’s Champion miler - Fierce Impact. As owners we can only dream to get classy and hardy horses like him and Brandenburg. We sent Luvaluva to Lonhro last season and she is booked to Fierce Impact this year- we literally can’t wait to see what we get from that mating and in a time of high priced service fees Fierce is just amazing value at $16500," he added.
