First Winner for Palentino

Tara Madgwick - Thursday May 6

Teofilo’s dual Group I winning son Palentino is off the mark with his first winner after Palencia scored a resounding debut victory on Thursday.

Sent out a short priced favourite for the 1200m juvenile maiden at Townsville, the Roy Chillemi trained gelding was in a class of his own galloping clear to win by more than four lengths.

A $62,500 Magic Millions Gold Coast March Yearling Sale purchase from the Lyndhurst Stud Farm draft for Group I Pty Ltd, Palencia looks to have a bright future.

Bred by Goldstar Thoroughbreds, he is the fifth winner from good producer Dynamic Lass, a half-sister by Redoute’s Choice to the dam of recent Group III ATC PJ Bell Stakes winner Matchmaker.

Palentino is on the board with his first winner!

Palencia is just the fourth runner for Palentino, who has been super popular with Victorian breeders covering over 550 mares in his first four seasons.

He stands at Widden Stud Victoria this spring at a fee of $11,000.
