Oaklands Stud to Stand Exosphere

Media Release - Tuesday May 4

Oaklands Stud are excited to confirm that resident stallion, Power (GB) will again serve as the headline stallion for the 2021 season, standing alongside an exciting new addition in Exosphere.

“The Oaklands roster for 2021 provides breeders with arguably the most credentialled racehorses to ever stand in QLD. International superstars on the track, the highly promising young sires provides breeders with the opportunity to breed racehorses that will be up and running early 2YO types, whilst also running on successfully at three and four and beyond,” commented Stud Principal, Neville Stewart

“Our stallions have a terrific blend of pure power and speed with athleticism. We believe both stallions are particularly well suited to the Australian and specifically the QLD breeding landscape.”

Power
In his most successful racing season to date, Power has sired four stakes-winners in New Zealand headed by Group III Force of Will as well as Hong Kong based Group II winner Mighty Giant.

Power is also currently leading the New Zealand’s Sire Table for Three-Year-Old winners by one winner over Savabeel.

His first Australian-bred progeny are selling this year and have sold for up to $85,000 providing an outstanding return on service fees for breeders.

Power’s service fee this season will slightly increase to $13,200 (inc GST) as Oaklands remains committed to offering outstanding stallions at competitive pricing.

The exciting acquisition of Exosphere to Oaklands will now provide QLD breeders with an opportunity to breed Lonhro’s Group[ I Golden Rose winning son.

Exosphere has relocated from Darley to Oaklands Stud.
The timing also couldn’t be better with Exosphere’s talented son, the well-named, Exoboom, winning the Group III Hawkesbury Guineas for the Peter and Paul Snowden last Saturday.

He is the second stakes-winner for Exosphere joining the Godolphin homebred Group II winning filly Thermosphere, a winner of over $400,000 in prizemoney..

With his oldest progeny just three year-olds, Oaklands are very excited at the potential that Exosphere still has in front of him and are confident that he will make a serious mark in the QLD Market.

Exosphere will stand at $4,950 (inc GST).

Alistair Stewart, Stud Co-Principal, stated, “We have been thrilled with how successful the progeny of Power have been on the track this season, as well as in the sales ring.

“His continued popularity shows that breeders are also believing in what Power is continuing to produce in both arenas.

“With the support that Exosphere has already received, we believe he will make an immediate impact in the state and are excited by his future. However, we remain aware that these are challenging times for everyone. As such, we have priced our stallions with the view to offering value to breeders, many of whom are returning clients. We are also very conscious to leave good margin for breeders, and we want to see them do well selling and racing Oaklands-bred progeny. That equates to return business over the long term.”
