New G3 Winner for Shalaa

Tara Madgwick - Monday May 3

Arrowfield Stud shuttler Shalaa (IRE) added a new stakes-winner to his tally overnight in Ireland where three year-old filly No Speak Alexander capture the Group III Athasi Stakes (7f) at The Curragh.

Trained by Jessica Harrington, No Speak Alexander was making her seasonal debut and ran out an easy length and a half winner over her stablemate, Pride of Dubai filly Zaffy’s Pride.

Stakes-placed last season, she was also twice fourth in Group races and now has the overall record of two wins and a second from six starts.

“No Speak Alexander has been working like that and I was keen to ride her, even over Zaffy's Pride,” said winning rider Shane Foley.

“I thought she might have run well in the French Guineas, but we didn't have her in it. She's probably entitled to come back for the Irish Guineas now after that.”

No Speak Alexander is the first winner for Rapacity Alexander, a stakes-winning full sister to Group I winning sprinter Peniaphobia.

She is the second European stakes-winner for Shalaa and is his third in total with his Australian offspring headed by Magic Millions 2YO Classic winner Shaquero.
