New 2YO Stakes-Winner for Starspangledbanner

Tara Madgwick - Monday May 3

Rosemont Stud announced their fees and roster for 2021 on Monday with Starspangledbanner listed at $16,500, the champion son of Choisir featuring overnight in Ireland with a new 2YO stakes-winner after Castle Star took out the Listed First Flier Stakes (5f) at The Curragh.

Second at his first two starts, the Fozzy Stack trained colt looked impressive when charging home to win by nearly two lengths in a dominant performance.

“Castle Star was a bit unlucky to encounter such a talented opponent the last day, (Kodiac colt Glounthaune) but he did it well here and deserved his win. I think five or six furlongs comes alike to him, and we might look at the Norfolk for him now at Ascot in six weeks time,” said Fozzy Stack.

Castle Star was retained to race by his breeders and is the best of three winners from Awohaam, a half-sister by Iffraaj to Group III winner Moment in Time from Group III winner Horatia.

Castle Star is the 16th stakes-winner for Starspangledbanner.
