New French Stakes-Winner for Fastnet Rock

Tara Madgwick - Sunday May 2

Bred on the magic Fastnet Rock x Galileo cross, lightly raced three year- old colt Fenelon scored his first Black Type success at Longchamp overnight when taking out the Listed Prix de l’Avre (1m4f)).

Trained by Nicolas Clement, Fenelon was having just his third start and scored his second win when powering clear to win by a length.

Passed in as a yearling, Fenelon runs for his breeders Haras Du Mezeray S A & Ecurie Skymarc Farm and is the best of two winners from Group III winner Aigue Marine, a half-sister by Galileo to Group I winner Mekhtaal and Group winners Democrate and Normandy Bridge.

Fenelon is the 173rd stakes-winner worldwide for Fastnet Rock and is 21st stakes-winner bred from a daughter of Galileo, the nick running at 21% stakes-winners to runners.

Fastnet Rock stands this spring at a fee of $165,000 and is enjoying his usual good season with Group I winners Personal, Avantage and Rocket Spade backed up by a raft of other stakes-winners.
