Siyouni's See You In Spring Captures Without Fear Stakes

Mark Smith - Saturday May 1

If the Aga Khan ever consented to shuttle Haras de Bonneval’s Siyouni (FR), the son of Pivotal would have a ready-made fan base in Australia.

The sire of Group II ATC Todman Stakes winner Aylmerton struck again with the Trent Busuttin and Natalie Young-trained 2yo filly See You In Spring, who kept her record at a perfect two for two in Saturday’s Listed Without Fear Stakes (Queen Of Adelaide) (1050m) at Morphettville.

Luke Currie controlled the race from the front on See You In Spring. By the time she rounded the home turn, See You In Spring had her seven opponents off the bit and chasing.

With a minimum of encouragement, See You In Spring defeated the fast-finishing Nicconi gelding Silent Theory by one and a quarter lengths with the Frosted (USA) filly Translation three-quarter of a length back in third.

See You In Spring was equally as dominant on debut at Cranbourne on April 16.

“She is a little speed demon who gets that little tail going like a propellor and is off and gone,” Natalie Young said.

“It’s fantastic for First Light Racing. She was bought at the Inglis Ready To Run last year, and it was my birthday. I said we have to buy this horse. Look at the breeding. She is out of a Shamardal mare by Siyouni, who stands for about $160,000. I thought she was a great little buy.”

Bred by Woodpark Stud, See You in Spring was an $85,000 Inglis Ready 2 Race purchase for First Light Racing / Paul Willetts / Busuttin Young Racing from the Highlands Racing and Bloodstock draft.

See You in Spring is a half-sister to French winner Colours and is the second winner from placed Shamardal mare Spring Colours (GB), whose stakes-placed dam Born Something (Caerleon) is a half-sister to European Horse of the Year and Champion Miler Goldikova.

Purchased by the Broadhurst Agency for €130,000 out of the Darley draft at the 2014 Arqana December Breeding Stock Sale, Spring Colours (GB) has a yearling colt by Astern, a filly foal by Aylmerton and was covered last year by Pariah.

See You in Spring becomes the 46th stakes-winner for Siyouni (FR), who, despite very limited representation in Australia, has Group II winner Aylmerton as well as Group placed See You Soon and Direct.
