Group I Dams Updated

Tara Madgwick - Tuesday April 27

We’ve been keeping tabs on the dams of Australasian Group I winners this season to see what they were up to in the 2020 stud season and at the conclusion of Group I racing in Sydney for the season, we’ve updated the list.

The dam of G1 Champagne Stakes winner Captivant was not covered last spring and has a weanling colt by Hellbent.

The list below features all Australian and New Zealand Group I winners this season whose dams are believed to be alive and at stud in Australasia and had stud returns lodged last year.

Impressive Maiden Success For Close Relation To Champion Filly English

G1 Older Sprinters- Are Our Sprinters the Best in the World?
The Australian G1 season has concluded and there were 23 Group I races won by older horses at a distance less than 1600m, but one race that fits the category but is yet to be given G1 status is the $10million Golden Eagle (1500m) and form out of it would suggest it was the best of them all.
Levakia Adds to Good Week for Curraghmore
Emerging filly Levakia has given Curraghmore further cause for celebration.
Vale, Joe Yorke
The racing industry has lost one of its more colourful characters with the passing of Joe Yorke on Sunday.
One To Watch – Sandown

G1 3YOs - Where the Real Action Is
2YO racing might garner a lot of attention, but the reality is G1 races run for this age group are shining a light on a comparatively small slice of that foal crop, whereas 3YO racing is where the real action lies as the good horses from the season before have to step up or slide out of contention.
Winning Hat Trick for So You Think Filly
So You Think has ticked over $12million in seasonal earnings with 150 plus winners including seven stakes-winners and while Covert Thinking is not among the luminaries by her sire, this tenacious 3YO has won three on the trot and landed her first metro victory on Wednesday.
