Aussie Bred Mare a Star South African Producer

Tara Madgwick - Monday April 26

A Commands filly bought from the Kitchwin Hills draft at the 2011 Magic Millions Yearling Sale for $40,000 by World Wide Bloodstock and sent to South Africa to race has made her mark not only as a stakes-winner, but also as a stakes producer.

Racing in South Africa as Nona in Command, she won two races including the Listed Turffontein Swallow Stakes and featured at Kenilworth last Saturday as the dam of talented three year-old Warrior, who claimed his first Black Type win when taking out the Group III Variety Club Mile.

Warrior is the fourth stakes-winner for South African Horse of the Year Futura, whose oldest progeny are three year-olds.

Warrior is the second stakes-winner from Nona in Command, who is also the dam of dual Group III winning filly Pretty Young Thing.

Nona in Command comes from a family very well known in Australia as her dam Bashaayer is a half-sister to Group III winning blue hen Procrastinate, the dam of Aussie bred South African Champion Sprinter Laisserfaire and four other stakes-winners including Personify, the dam of 2020 Group I VRC Oaks winner Personal.

The family appears in the upcoming Inglis Australian Broodmare Sale with Lot 502 Red Fuschia in foal to Extreme Choice.
