G1 Goldmine Champagne Stakes Analysis

Sponsored Content - by Tara Madgwick - Thursday April 22

This Saturday’s Group I ATC Champagne Stakes (1600m) is the last elite juvenile event to be run in Sydney this season and the distance of a mile makes it an interesting subject for a pedigree analysis story given these horses require precocity and also a dash of stamina.

Respected pedigree analysts G1 Goldmine have run the rule over all 14 runners producing an in-depth pedigree report shedding light on the genes behind a two year-old that can compete at the top level over a longer trip.

Historically there are few Golden Slipper that go on to add the Champagne Stakes to their tally, especially in recent times with the only horses to achieve the feat since 2000 being Dance Hero (2004) and Pierro (2012), both of them winning the 2YO Triple Crown.

The only Golden Slipper runners engaged this year are Captivant and Queen of Wizardry, the field of 14 being packed with up and comers looking to finish their season with a Group I win!
