Media Release - Tuesday April 20

The stars are aligning for young talented sire Shamexpress who was at the forefront of this week's racing. A Group 1 placing for Coventina Bay and a smart win by unbeaten 2YO colt Rangi Toa topped off a great week for the Windsor Park Stud resident stallion.

COVENTINA BAY, already a dual Group 3 winner this season, has been patiently trained throughout her career by Taranaki horseman Robbie Patterson and unleashed her electric turn of foot to narrowly go down to top mare Avantage.

Coventina Bay's dam, Coventina is a three win High Chaparral mare that hails back to one of the great Windsor Park families, that of Nimue.

Meanwhile at Hawkes Bay, smart Shamexpress 2YO colt RANGI TOA certainly looks to be a horse to look out for after remaining unbeaten from his 2 starts. “He’s a smart colt and a bit of a casual customer, he got to the front so easily today and then decided to cruise about. He’s going to be even better next prep and will now benefit from a spell” said trainer Tony Pike.

Rangi Toa, out of Thorn Park mare Double Parked was born, bred and sold by Windsor Park Stud for $105,000 at the NZB Ready to Run sale through the Riversley Park draft.
SHAMEXPRESS, who’s oldest crop are 5yo’s have been running at an impressive 10.6% stakes winners to runners. He has been represented by multiple winners on both sides of the Tasman.

These include WEONA SMARTONE winner of 3 wins from 4 starts in Queensland, EXPRESS PRINCESS, a dual metropolitan winning mare from her last 4 starts for the Freedman stable.  Meanwhile SOVEREIGN EXPRESS and SANIBEL notched up wins during the week and a couple of impressive 2YO winners at the Foxton trials.
