One to Watch - Newcastle

Tara Madgwick - Friday September 15
Two Aquis Farm sires combined to produce a promising debut winner at Newcastle on Friday for Team Hawkes.

Three year-old Dream Ahead (USA) gelding Renewal showed good ability when placing in his only two previous trials and was anticipated to run well in the 1200 metre maiden.

Renewal He enjoyed a good run in transit for Brenton Avdulla from gate one and surged to the line to win by a long neck with the favourite stakes-placed All Too Huiying back in third place.

Bred by Tareena Bloodstock, Renewal (image Steve Hart) is part-owned by by bloodstock guru Trevor Lobb, who was responsible for bringing his sire Dream Ahead to Australia in his time as General Manager at Emirates Park.

Renewal is the first foal of Renascent, a winning Domesday half-sister to Group III winner Vashka from stakes-placed Zabeel mare Zaroyale, so there is plenty of depth to his pedigree.

The leading Australian third crop sire last season by stakes-winners with four on the board, Dream Ahead stands at Aquis Farm, Murrurrundi at a fee of $19,800.
