UK Winner for Star Aussie Broodmare Al Anood

Tara Madgwick - Monday April 12

Australian bred and raced  Danehill (USA) mare Al Anood  has done an amazing job for her owner Sheikh Mohammed bin Khalifa Al Maktoum leaving three stakes-winners among her six winners headed by dual Group I winner and sire Pride of Dubai and she featured overnight with a winner at Windsor in the UK.

Al Anood has spent most of her stud career in Australia but was sent to the Northern Hemisphere in 2016 where she was covered twice by Dubawi to produce two fillies before travelling to Japan to visit Deep Impact and then returning home in foal to him.

She produced a filly, now a yearling from that mating and then a filly by Lonhro last spring and is now in foal to American Pharoah (USA).

The first of the Dubawi fillies from Al Anood , unraced Barooda was imported to Australia earlier this year and the second of them is three year-old Bint Al Anood and she scored an all the way win over 1m at her first start for new trainer David Louhnane.

She won a race at Kempton last year as a two year-old when owned by the Sheikh and trained by John Gosden, but has had a change of ownership during the winter and runs for Athena Thoroughbred Racing.

Bint Al Anood has now won two of six starts and there may be more wins in store.

“She is the best bred filly I've ever trained. It just took a bit of time to sweeten her up but I told her owners I wouldn't swap her for anything else in the race and that I really liked her, said David Loughnane.

Whatever she does on the track, Bint Al Anood is certainly worth plenty as a broodmare of the future given her female family which includes champion sires Invincible Spirit and Kodiac, current Group I star Mishriff and Champion 2YO Pinatubo, who shuttles to Australia this spring for Darley.
