Breednet - Friday September 15

We struggled to find favourites we were keen to bag on Saturday but the team at Racenet never walks away from a challenge so here’s Racenet Lays for this weekend.

CHAUTAUQUA

$3.80

Extremely tough day to settle on a lay in Sydney. Trials indicate he’s come back as well as ever but he’s been beaten first-up his last two preparations and the low-flying Redzel could be off and gone by the time he gets wound up. Because of the horse that he is, he’s going to start shorter than he should and we’re prepared to take him on.

MR SNEAKY

$2.70

If it was tough to find a lay in Sydney and it was harder still at Flemington. Mr Sneaky won easily first-up at Caulfield after getting all the favours but steps up to Listed class now. Gets a big weight drop but he’s meeting stronger opposition and has failed in his only two previous second-up runs. Was a $9 chance last time and now favourite against harder opposition so we’re prepared to risk him.

THE AMBASSADORE

$2.90

Has been well-backed and now looks plenty short enough for us. First-up and first time with blinkers but he’s found a race with several chances that are rock hard fit so he will need to be ready. The money suggests he is but he’s now unders for ours.

SOUFFRANT

$3

Taking on Darren Weir but suspect if this horse was trained by anyone else it would be a bigger price. Won his maiden at Bendigo then soundly put in his place behind Lina’s Hero in Benchmark 64 class at Sandown. Rises in grade here and a small field will help but at this price? No thanks.

Belmont

PINZU

$3.90

Favourite after disappointing last start. Gets an apprentice to help with the topweight but that might not be sufficient. Drawn wide but likely to get back - in a small field it could develop into a sit and sprint and that might catch him out.
