Coolmore Sell $1.95 Million I Am Invincible Filly

Tara Madgwick - Wednesday April 7

It’s been ‘I Am Invincible day’ at Inglis Easter on Wednesday with Yarraman Park’s champion sire producing his fifth seven figure yearling of the session – and his seventh for the sale - when Coolmore Stud’s I Am Invincible filly from Hips Don’t Lie sold for $1.95 million.

The price is a new record for a filly sired by I Am Invincible and makes her the second highest priced yearling by her sire ever sold.

A glamour filly in the flesh and a glamour on the page, the Coolmore produced filly is a half-sister to Group III winner Ennis Hill, stakes-winner and Golden Slipper place-getter Lake Geneva and this season’s juvenile stakes-winner Acrobat.

She was bought by Sheamus Mills Bloodstock, who has been very successful in targeting high end fillies including this season’s Group I MRC Thousand Guineas winner Odeum, whose owners will also race this filly.

“She’s by the best stallion in the country from in my opinion one of the best families in the country, she’s a rare gem,” Sheamus Mills told Breednet.

“She’ll be trained by Mick Price and hopefully can win a Group I and we can be back here in a few years time selling her foals.”

A Group II winner by Stravinsky (USA), Hips Don’t Lie was bought in New Zealand as a yearling by James Bester for $200,000 back in 2007 and he and his wife Bridget remain in her ownership.

The mare has been the gift that keeps giving as her first four yearlings, all by Fastnet Rock, sold for a collective $4million through Inglis Easter.

The $1.95million filly is the first foal Hips Don’t Lie has ever produced by a sire other than Fastnet Rock.
