Hot Lots Day Two Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale

The Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale got underway at Riverside Stables on Tuesday, with tone set early when lot five, a son of Exceed And Excel offered by Vinery Stud was purchased by Tony Fung for $2,100,000.

That price was eclipsed 40 lots later when John, Michael and Wayne Hawkes went to $2,500,000 for Arrowfield Stud’s Snitzel colt out of the ATC Australian Oaks heroine Rising Romance for $2,500,000.

That price held up for the rest of the session.

There were eleven lots to make $1million or more on the day.  There were a further six to make between $900,000 and a $1million.

Overall. 174 lots sold for a total of $64,400,000 at an average of $370,115. The clearance rate was 85%..

Consignor: Bhima Thoroughbreds (as agent for Dorrington Farm)

First foal of the Gr.1 MRC Blue Diamond Stakes winner and near $2million earner Catchy a daughter of the dual Gr.II winning Fusaichi Pegasus (USA) mare Cats Whisker.

Half-brother to the talented L’Cosmo a $460,000 son of Lonhro.

Dam numbered the Gr.1 ATC Canterbury Stakes and Gr.1 Tatts Tiara among her seven wins and is a daughter of the multiple stakes-winner Crevette a sister to the Hong Kong Champion Fairy King Prawn and half-sister to Group 1 winner Easy Rocking.

Half-brother to Gr.II VRC Sires’ Produce Stakes winner and Group 1 ATC Champagne Stakes runner-up Zululand and to stakes-placed Chicago Bull.

Gr.II Comely Stakes winner Dream Play (USA) was purchased for $460,000 at 2009 Fasig-Tipton's November Sale and has repaid that many times over with yearlings bringing $1.5million, $800,000, $750,000 $500,000 $400,000 and $250,000.

Lot No: 299 B C Snitzel x Exclusive Lass by Nicconi

Consignor: Willow Park Stud

Second foal of stakes-winner Exclusive Lass whose first foal by Vancouver made $600,000 to the bid of Tom Magnier last year. Nmed Cape Breton he is in training with Chris Waller.

A granddaughter of crack racemare Arletty, Exclusive Lass was purchased by James Harron for $460,000 when carrying the Vancouver colt.

Second foal of a stakes-winning half-sister to Gr.1 winner Calveen, Gr.II winner and Gr.1 placed Kosi Bay, and stakes-winner and Gr.1 runner-up Striker.

Lot No: 307 B C I Am Invincible x First Seal by Fastnet Rock

Consignor: Sledmere Stud

Second foal of Winx’s nemesis Fast Seal whose six wins included the Gr.1 ATC Flight Stakes.

Herself a $700,000 yearling, First Seal’s first foal by Snitzel was knocked down here last year to Tom Magnier for $1.8million

Named Naval Seal he is another among the treasure trove of youngsters at the Chris Waller stable.

Lot No: 330 B C Snitzel x Harlow Gold by Tavistock

Consignor: Glenlogan Park

First foal of Harlow Gold who finished second in the VRC Oaks, third in the ATC Vinery Stud Stakes and fourth in the Australian Guineas, all at the elite level.

She was purchased as a broodmare prospect for $600,000 in 2018.

Lot No: 340 B F I Am Invincible x Hips Don’t Lie by Stravinsky

Consignor: Coolmore Stud

Half-sister to stakes-winner Ennis Hill who placed in the Golden Slipper and Blue Diamond Stakes and this season’s Inglis Nursery (RL) winner Acrobat, as well as the stakes-placed Memphis Rock.

Nothing out of Gr.II Reisling Stakes winner Hips Don’t Lie comes cheap. Her yearlings have come at a cost of $1.1million, $1million (twice), and $900,000. Acrobat could not find a buying willing to shell out $1million for him here last year.

Lot No: 370 B or br F Snitzel x Kneeling by Encosta de  Lago

Consignor: Arrowfield Stud

Dam is a dual stakes-winning half-sister to Gr.III winner and Gr.1 placed half-sister to Day of Rest and Listed winner That’s A Good Idea as well as to the dam of the Gr.1 Victoria Derby and Gr.1 Spring Champion Stakes winner Ace High.

Kneeling was purchased in 2015 by Katsumi Yoshida for $800,000.

First foal of Inglis 2yo Classic (RL) winner. From the family of Snippets and Not A Single Doubt, Lady Jivago was purchased by Widden for $420,000 as a broodmare prospect in 2018.

Lot No: 392 B F I Am Invincible x Listen Here by Elusive Quality

Consignor: Cressfield

Half-sister to Shooting To Win and Deep Field and multiple stakes-placed Zaniah who was a $1million yearling.

Blue hen Listen Here was purchased by China Horse Club/Bruce Perry Bloodstock for $3.4million in 2016.

Lot No: 405 B C Capitalist x Ma Can Do It (USA) by Majesticperfection

Consignor: Newgate Farm

Second foal of class mare in the U.S. who was runner-up in the Gr.II Black-Eyed Susan Stakes and third in the Gr.1 Alcibiades Stakes.

A sister to this colt made $100,000 last year and is in training with Matthew Dunn.

Lot No: 410 B C Redoute’s Choice x Malala (JPN) by Zeno Rob Roy

Brother to the recent Sandown winner Derive. Dam is a half-sister to three outstanding Gr.1 performers in World Premiere, World Ace and Weltreisende.

Malala is a daughter of the Listed winner and Gr.1 German Oaks runner-up Mandela a half-sister to champion racehorse and sire Manduro.  

Lot No: 428 Ch C Capitalist x Miss Interiors by Flying Spur

Half-brother to this seasons smart 2yo Home Affairs and the multiple stakes placed 3yo filly Aysar.

An $875,000 yearling Home Affairs won the Gr.II Silver Slipper while Aysar, a $260,000 yearling, was runner-up in twice recently in Gr.IIIs to add to her second place finish in the Gr.1 MRC Caulfield Guineas.

Miss Interiors is proving a worthy investment on the $625,000 outlaid by Belmont Bloodstock Agency (FBAA) in 2017.

Lot No: 454 B C Written Tycoon x Noondie by Flying Spur

Consignor: Yarraman Park Stud

Brother to the MRC Oakleigh Plate winner Booker and the Listed winner Baquo.

Noondie was purchased in 2019 for $600,000 and a year later her daughter Booker made $1.6 million as a broodmare prospect.

Half-sister to Listed MRC Sandown Cup winner Carif. The Champion 3YO Filly of Australia 2012/13, Norzita won the Gr.1 ATC Vinery Stud Stakes and Gr.1 Flight Stakes and was sold in 2019 for $1.7million to Freyer Bloodstock (FBAA) when carrying this filly.

Sadly, Norzita died in November last year and her final foal is a weanling filly by The Autumn Sun.

Lot No: 461 B C Deep Impact (JPN) x Omei Sword by High Chaparral

Consignor: Arrowfield Stud

First foal of Gr.II ATC Siver Shadow Stakes winner and Gr.1 Golden Rose Stakes runner-up Omei Sword.

A daughter of the Gr.1 MRC Thousand Guineas winner Irish Lights, Omei Sword was a $875,000 yearling who made $1.7million to the bid of Dean Hawthorne Bloodstock (BAFNZ)/Freyer Bloodstock as a broodmare prospect in 2018.
