2021 NZB National Weanling Sale Catalogue Online

The catalogue for New Zealand Bloodstock’s 2021 National Weanling Sale, due to take place at Karaka on Friday 14 May, is now online and available to view here

The dedicated weanling only session to be hosted as a physical sale at the Karaka Sales Centre features a 114-lot catalogue abound with pinhooking and investment opportunity.

High Chaparral sire Ace High will have his first weanlings on show.

Showcasing high quality weanlings by over 40 sires, including the first opportunity to secure progeny by eight freshmen Australasian stallions such as Ace High (High Chapparral), Embellish (NZ) (Savabeel), Eminent (Frankel) and U S Navy Flag (War Front).

NZB’s weanling graduates have recorded an impressive score of eight Group One wins and 59 stakes wins in the current five seasons. Headlined by this season’s Group One Tarzino Trophy winner Callsign Mav (NZ) (Atlante) and 2020 Group One New Zealand Oak’s winner Jennifer Eccles (NZ) (Rip Van Winkle), a $3,000 and $5,000 purchase in 2017 respectively.

For astute pinhookers, the Sale also offers a happy hunting ground for those searching for their next pinhook success story or racetrack star with the likes of Group One winners Gingernuts (NZ) (Iffraaj), Yourdeel (NZ) (Dundeel) and Puccini (NZ) (Encosta de Lago) all initially going through the Karaka sale ring as weanlings. 

On offer includes the progeny of 11 stakes-performing dams and siblings to nine stakes performers including Lot 50, a half to Group Three winner Bel Sorriso (NZ) and Lot 52, a half to Group Two winner and twice-Group One placegetter Belle du Nord (NZ). In addition, there are ten lots who are BOBS eligible.

NZB and New Zealand-based agents will be available to inspect all catalogued weanlings on behalf of prospective buyers, with online bidding services also on offer for international and local buyers who are unable to physically attend the Sale.  

Weanlings offered in the Sale will be eligible to enter in the lucrative Karaka Million Series featuring two $1 million races available for graduates as two and three-year-olds, plus the $100,000 CollinsonForex Karaka Cup for the duration of their career.

Selling will commence at 11am (NZT) from the Karaka Sales Centre. All supplementary lots will be sold following the last lot with supplementary entries closing on Friday 7 May.
