One to Watch – Chantilly

Tara Madgwick - Monday April 5

The European flat racing season has begun which means well bred promising three year-olds are starting to strut their stuff and an eye-catching debut winner overnight at Chantilly was the full brother to high class stayer Finche and he looks just like him!

A homebred for Juddmonte, Baratti is trained by Andre Fabre and was sent out a short priced favourite for the 1m2f maiden and surged clear to win by three-quarters of a length.

Baratti is the eighth winner from outstanding producer Binche, who has left Group I winners Proviso and Byword as well as Group II winner and multiple Group I placed Finche, who is currently sidelined through injury.

Baratti’s sire Frankel also added a new stakes-winner to his tally at Chantilly where Big Five won the Listed Prix Right Royal 1m 7f to become the 61st  stakes-winner for his champion sire.

Frankel sired a new Group I winner in Australia last weekend in Hungry Heart and has five entries for Inglis Easter, click here to see them.
