What Does A Good Written Tycoon Look Like?

Breednet - Saturday April 3

It’s time to take a look at what the best of Written Tycoon’s progeny looked like when offered as yearlings to see if there might be a trend to help in assessing the 15 on offer at this week’s Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale.

Written Tycoon has come from a humble start to be consistently among Australia’s best stallions with 42 stakes winners to date, including nine Group One winners.

Those Group One winners feature the likes of Golden Slipper winner and now successful stallion Capitalist, and the recently retired Golden Rose and Caulfield Guineas winner Ole Kirk so there’s got to be plenty of interest in 10 of his best bred colts on offer this week.

It’s also worth noting that he’s had nine stakes winners this year including 3YO dual Group One winner Ole Kirk coming off his first big service fee increase from $19,800 to $49,500 and this season’s highly promising juveniles Enthaar and Finance Tycoon off a fee of $88,000, so the better mares hold no fears and it would be no shock if his best days are yet to come.

Among his 15 on offer at Easter there are two colts out of Gr.1 Blue Diamond placegetters Reemah and Shaaheq, both to be sold unreserved as part of the Shadwell dispersal in the Yarraman Park draft, and a full brother to Oakleigh Plate winner Booker in the same draft.

There is also a three-quarter brother Group One winner Music Magnate in the Newgate Farm draft.
