Good Friday Stakes-Winner for Written Tycoon

Tara Madgwick - Friday April 2

There’s no stopping Written Tycoon, Australia’s leading sire of stakes-winners this season.

There wasn’t much racing on Good Friday, but there was enough to give Written Tycoon another stakes-winner with his six year-old gelding Media Baron making it back to back wins in the Listed WATC Old Comrade Stakes (1600m) at Ascot.

Trained by David Harrison, Media Baron won this race last year and had not won since until today.

He finished off well from back in the field to score a three-quarter length win taking his overall record to eight wins and 13 placings from 43 starts with prizemoney topping $500,000.

Retained to race, he is the best of five winners from minor winning Fimiston mare Silentium, a daughter of stakes-placed Old Tricks.

Written Tycoon has 18 entries for Inglis Easter.

Media Baron is the 12th stakes-winner this season for Written Tycoon, who is the leading sire of Australian stakes-winners since August 1.

That’s two more than I Am Invincible and Fastnet Rock on 10 each with Snitzel on nine.
