North Pacific Retired to Newgate Farm

Exceptionally talented colt North Pacific has run his last race after sustaining an injury.

Such a natural talent, as a two-year-old North Pacific was able to run third to Farnan on debut in the Group 2 Silver Slipper running sensational closing sectionals and marking himself as a potential star of the future.

Coming back as a three-year-old, North Pacific put in one of the highest rated performances of any colt of the season by smashing a strong field in the Group 3 Up and Coming Stakes winning by over five lengths before putting in another huge performance in the Group 1 Golden Rose getting beaten by the shortest of margins by multiple Group 1 winner Ole Kirk.

“Rated by outstanding judge John Hawkes as one of the best-looking yearlings he’s ever seen at a sale, North Pacific had a huge engine to match his incredible good looks.  While his racing career was prematurely cut short, he was a horse with legitimate Group 1 form and talent,” commented Newgate’s Henry Field.

“It was very encouraging to see leading form analyst Daniel O’Sullivan rank him at the top of the three-year-old colts for this season based on his two peak performances. I am personally a big believer that you should rate a stallion on their best performances and at his best, North Pacific was quite brilliant,” said Field.

 

He will stand at a service fee of $20,000 + GST and lifetime breeding rights are available.

 For any breeders that would like to inspect North Pacific in the flesh, he will be on parade at the Inglis Riverside Complex this Sunday, April 4th at 4:00pm.
