Gooree Park Stud Now Offers Foundation For Your Success

Sponsored Content - by Tara Madgwick - Thursday March 25

A hugely successful private bloodstock enterprise for many years as the vision of the late Mr Eduardo Cojuangco, Gooree Park Stud is now a mainstream commercial thoroughbred business offering full agistment and pre-training services to outside clients and presenting a select draft for the 2021 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale.

“After 35 years of being a private Racing/Breeding farm, Gooree is now available to outside clients to take advantage of what is one of the best producing studs in the Southern Hemisphere,” said long term Stud Manager, Andrew Baddock.

“Besides breeding good tough sound horses, the farm has produced an enviable number of commercial stallions such as Northern Meteor, Smart Missile and Hallowed Crown, which is no fluke as they reflect the quality bloodlines and planned matings that underpin our success, combined with the environment in which these horses are raised.

“Our yearling paddocks alone average 50 acres in size and cover undulating terrain, while our spelling/pre training facilities are world class.”

The Inglis Easter consignment of six quality youngsters is a great advertisement for what Gooree Park Stud can produce.

“In the past we would never have considered offering such quality yearlings for sale, but times change and Gooree is moving forward in a new direction creating a major opportunity for buyers to access some of our very special bloodlines,” Baddock added.

It doesn’t get much better than this colt! By a champion stallion out of a Group I winning mare that Gooree bred and raced with Gai Waterhouse.

“He is all quality, very athletic, medium sized colt with a great hindquarter. He also has a great temperament and looks a real 2yo,” said Baddock.

“He gives me the same feeling as former Gooree bred stallions like Northern Meteor and Smart missile did at the same age!”

Lot 133 Filly Sebring x Top Of My List, by High Chaparral (IRE)

First living foal from Group III winner Top Of My List and appeals as an Oaks type of filly.

“This filly has done very well in her sales prep and is very much like her dam who was a tough and sound dual stakes winner in Sydney when trained by Anthony Cummings,” Baddock said.

“Her grand-dam Beauty Watch was as tough as they come and was Group I placed four times and also ended up winning a Hawkesbury Cup.”

Lot 188 Filly Snitzel x Altairs Glow, by Encosta de Lago

Closely related to Group III ATC Sapphire Stakes winner Sure Knee, who is also by Snitzel from this family.

“Cracking filly by the great Snitzel from a full sister to champion stallion Northern Meteor,” said Baddock.

“She has great residual as a broodmare down the track and hails from one of the great families in the Stud Book and is a very strong filly to match.”

Lot 250 Filly Capitalist x Chosen Heir, by Fastnet Rock

From the second crop of leading first season sire Capitalist and is first foal of blue-blooded Fastnet Rock mare from one of Gooree Stud’s iconic families.

“She is from the family of G1 stars Desert War, Laser Hawk and Romantic Touch, so this is a Gooree family from top to bottom and a great example of what we produce,” said Baddock.

“They are tough, sound running horses. She is a very good boned filly by a champion 2yo from a super tough middle distance family so would not surprise to see this filly get 1600m and beyond.”

Lot 267 Colt Zoustar x Dearness, by Snippets

Three-quarter brother to Group I winning 2YO Romantic Touch and dual Group III winner Burning Passion

“Another great example of what Gooree can produce from the same female family as the previous filly,” Baddock said.

“He’s by Widden Stud’s champion sire Zoustar, who is of course by our ill-fated sire Northern Meteor.”

Lot 369 Colt Lonhro x Kiss From A Rose, by Encosta de Lago

By champion sire Lonhro from a dual stakes winning half-sister by Encosta de Lago to Smart Missile from the family of Northern Meteor.

“This colt is virtually jet black and almost a clone of his great father,” Baddock said.

“He is a sharp precocious type and with his pedigree, what is he worth as a stallion if he wins a Major!!”
