Stakes Goals for Invincible Filly

Tara Madgwick - Thursday March 25

Placed behind outstanding colts Acrobat and Stay Inside at her first two starts, I Am Invincible filly Ashema broke the ice for Annabel Neasham at Randwick on Thursday when saluting over 1100m.

Given a little freshen up after finishing unplaced to leading Golden Slipper fancy Profiteer in the $2million Inglis Millennium, Ashema appreciated a drop back in class for a maiden fillies event.

She travelled well for Tommy Berry and kicked clear down the running, but had to dig deep to hold off the challengers with Redoute’s Choice blueblood Yearning (from Group I winner Rising Romance) chasing hard for second beaten a head.

“She’s a pretty smart filly and the second horse looked good in it’s trials, so it might be a strong race,” said Annabel Neasham

“At this time of year you look at a race like the Percy Sykes (G2), but I’m not sure she’s ready for 1200m, but it would be great to get some more Black Type with her.”

Bred and offered for sale by Aquis, Ashema passed in shy of her $800,000 reserve at Inglis Easter and runs for a syndicate that includes the Fung Family.

Ashema as a yearling.

She is the second winner from two to race from stakes-placed Exceed and Excel mare Omniscient, a daughter of stakes-winner Omens, who comes from the family of Group I winner Erewhon.

Omniscient has been to Aquis sires in recent years and has a yearling filly by Spieth, a filyl foal by Santos and was covered last year by Lean Mean Machine.
