Wild Rain? No, Not the Weather

Tara Madgwick - Monday March 22

Breednet owner Craig Tompson is on tour in the Hunter Valley with the Inglis Easter Yearling inspection party and one of the first stops on Tuesday morning was at Cressfield where a topical tip yearling impressed everyone.

‘Wild rain’ has had the general population talking of nothing else, but in this case it was Lot 162, an I Am Invincible filly from Group II winner Wild Rain.

Lot 162 - click to see her page.

She is the second foal of a brilliantly fast sprinting mare from the family of Australian Horse of the Year Northerly

Cressfield sold the first foal from Wild Rain, a full sister to this filly, for $500,000 at Inglis Easter last year to Commendable Bloodstock and she’s been named Hecate. Trained by Team Hawkes, she is yet to trial.

The Wild Rain filly is one of three in the Cressfield draft by champion sire I Am Invincible and the other two are also exceptional.

Lot 71 - click to see his page.

Lot 71 is a colt, the first foal of $1.5million earner and Group I SAJC Ubet Classic winner Secret Agenda, a full sister to the dam of this season’s boom Group III winning 2YO Enthaar.

Lot 392 - click to see her page.

Lot 392 is one of the fillies of the sale, a half-sister by I Am Invincible to Group I winner Shooting to Win and Group II winner Deep Field from blue hen Listen Here, who made $3.4million at the 2016 Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale when bought by China Horse Club/Bruce Perry Bloodstock.

The pedigree had an update on Monday when Listen Here’s first daughter to go to stud, Look and Listen, produced a debut 2YO winner with her first foal Do as You’re Told, read about her here as she was the Breednet ‘One to Watch’.

Also showing promise is the three three year-old Snitzel colt from Listen Here called Rights of Man, who has had three starts for a win and a second, givine his dam the perfect record of six foals to race all winners.
