Deep Field Stakes Run Continues

Tara Madgwick - Saturday March 20

Deep Field added a fourth stakes-winner for this season to his tally at Ascot on Saturday when Dig Deep took out the Listed WATC Grandstand stakes (1500m).

Trained by Daniel and Ben Pearce, Dig Deep won the Group II WATC Karrakatta Plate as a two year-old, but had not won a Black Type race since then until today.

Luckless at his previous outing, Dig Deep was sent out favourite and scored a short neck win taking his overall record to five wins and four placings from 17 starts with prizemoney topping $530,000.

A $100,000 Magic Millions Perth Yearling Sale purchase from the Gold Front Thoroughbreds draft for Pearce Racing, Dig Deep was bred by Alan and Sue Olive’s Gold Front Thoroughbreds.

Dig Deep is the first foal of Lucky Ana, a winning half-sister to Group III winner Estelle Collection, the dam of Australian Horse of the Year Lankan Rupee.

Lucky Ana has a weanling filly by Deep Field and is now in foal to his Group II winning son Cosmic Force.

Deep Field goes from strength to strength!

Dig Deep is the second stakes-winner in two days for Deep Field, who sired Quantum Mechanic to win the Group II MVRC Sunline Stakes at Moonee Valley on Friday night.
