Redoute’s Choice Sire Son for South America

Tara Madgwick - Thursday March 18

The Champion 2YO Colt in South Africa for 2016/2017, blue-blooded Australian bred Redoute’s Choice stallion Mustaaqeem has been secured for stud duties by South American Bloodstock Agency and will go to stud in Chile.

Mustaaqeem is going to stud in Chile.

A $1.75 million purchase for Shadwell from the Arrowfield Stud draft at Inglis Easter 2016, Mustaaqeem is a full brother to Shadwell’s South African Group I winning sprinter Rafeef, who was also bought from Inglis Easter for $800,000 in 2014.

Mustaaqeem did all his racing in South Africa where he was trained by Mike de Kock as did his brother Rafeef, who is now at stud in South Africa.

South American Bloodstock have had many inquiries from Chile and also Argentina, Brazil, South Africa and New Zealand expressing interest in Mustaaqeem and it is expected his progeny may help to re-open the Australian market and most important the Asian market for South American bred horses in the future.

Mustaaqeem and Rafeef are the best of four winners from triple Group I winner and South African Horse of the Year National Colour (SAfr), who was at stud in Australia at Arrowfield before her death in 2018.

Her last Australian foal was a Snitzel filly bought by Legend Racing for $300,000 from the Arrowfield draft at Magic Millions last year.
