Divine Winners Keep Her Memory Alive

Tara Madgwick - Tuesday March 16

Four time Group I winner and $2million earner Divine Madonna was the horse that put her trainer Mark Kavanagh on the map and when she was offered at the 2008 Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale she was snapped up by Darley for $2.7million.

Divine Madonna passed away in 2018 and her last foal is a three year-old Medaglia D’Oro (USA) filly called Eleusa that won her second race at Haweksbury on Tuesday

She scored by half a length over 1400m and her overall record is now two wins and two seconds from four starts.

Divine Madonna has had seven foals to race for Darley and the best of them has been stakes-winning Street Cry (IRE) mare Maternal, and she too produced a winner for Godolphin on Tuesday.

Two year-old Teofilo (IRE) colt Camaguey was too good for Capitalist colt Feudal Empire, winning the juvenile maiden at Sale over 1212m by a nose after placing at his two previous starts.

Camaguey is the first foal of Maternal, who has colts by Astern and Exceed and excel to follow and was covered by Lonhro last year.

Godolphin have sold a couple of other daughters of Divine Madonna so there is interest in the progress of this family from a number of parties!
