Proisir nomination a major draw card

Media Release - Tuesday March 16

A service nomination to one of the country’s leading young stallions Proisir is on offer to all New Zealand Thoroughbred Breeders’ Association members attending the prestigious NZTBA Breeders’ Stakes meeting at Te Aroha on Saturday, April 10.

The Waikato Branch of the NZTBA is delighted to announce that any NZTBA member at Te Aroha will be eligible to enter the prize draw for the nomination and the winner will be the person who draws the first horse past the post in the day’s feature race, the Gr.1 Fibre Fresh - NZ Thoroughbred Breeders’ Stakes (1600m) - New Zealand’s top-flight event for fillies and mares.

Proisir

It is through the generosity of the Proisir Syndicate that this prize is being made available.

“Proisir has always had great support from New Zealand breeders serving over 700 mares in his first six years at stud,” syndicate manager and Rich Hill managing director John Thompson said.

“From his initial service fee of $7000 + GST he has consistently upgraded his mares and with his oldest crop just four-year-olds, he is now established as one of New Zealand’s best young stallions.

“He covered his biggest and best-pedigreed book of mares this breeding season which assures he has an exciting future. The Proisir Syndicate feel it is a great time to donate a nomination in recognition of this breeder support and to celebrate what Proisir has achieved to-date.”

Proisir has sired four first-crop Group 1 performers, including Australian Gr.1 Epsom Handicap place getter Riodini, along with Group 1 New Zealand Oaks second and third place getters Vancooga and Feel The Rush.

His progeny also includes the Group 2 winner and Group 1 place getter Levante, an undoubted rising star of New Zealand racing and an impressive last-start winner of the Royal Descent Stakes at Ellerslie, while Aimee’s Jewel and Vitesse Bo are other Group winners for Proisir for this season.

As a result of the racetrack success of Proisir’s progeny, his yearlings were in great demand at the 2021 NZB Karaka Sale. He had a top price of $230,000 in Book 1 for Lot 353, an outstanding filly from Donna Marie consigned by Hallmark Stud. This demand continued into Book 2 with Lot 713 the Highline Thoroughbreds-consigned colt ex All Can Party selling for $180,000.

“We are really thankful that the Proisir Syndicate has put up the nomination and it’s certainly a prize that will attract breeders as Proisir is doing a great job at stud,” said Dave Duley, President of the Waikato branch of the NZTBA.

“We are over the moon to be offering a service to him. It’s a big day and we are expecting a larger crowd than usual.

“Usually, a lot of our members would be travelling to Sydney for the Easter Yearling Sale, but with COVID they won’t be able to so it will be great to have all the breeders together to enjoy a day of Group 1 racing.”

To be eligible to go in the draw for the Proisir service, prospective NZTBA members can join online or renew membership online at nzthoroughbred.co.nz
