One to Watch – Goulburn

Tara Madgwick - Thursday March 11

Any horse that can win a maiden, a class 1 then a class 2, by a combined total of seven lengths at her first three starts is a horse we want to know more about.

Gosford trainer Grant Allard has been going quietly with three year-old Shooting to Win filly Majestic Shot, but there’s no denying this girl is going places.

Ridden in each of her three starts by Mitchell Bell, Majestic Shot keeps raising the bar, today at Goulburn clocking a slick 56.52 seconds when coasting clear to win by three lengths eased down as a hot favourite.

A modest $11,000 Inglis Classic Yearling Sale purchase from the Ashleigh Thoroughbreds draft for Grand Syndicates / J Price, Majestic Shot has already won $50,000 thanks to some lucrative BOBS bonuses for her wins at Orange, Port Macquarie, and now Goulburn.

Purchased at Inglis Classic for just $11,000 , Majestic Shot has won her first three starts!
Allard will now look towards a provincial race for his promising filly, whose purchase price belied her talent.

Bred by Senga Bissett and Ivan Woodford-Smith, Majestic Shot is the fourth winner from five to race from Curtsey, an unraced Viscount daughter of stakes-winner Greeting.

A full brother to Deep Field, Group I Caulfield Guineas winner Shooting to Win covered 73 mares last year at a fee of $16,500.

He is the sire of four stakes-winners, three of them Group III winners headed by quality mare Tailleur, who like Majestic Shot, carries a double cross of blue hen Eight Carat.
