Emirates Park Bred Stakes Double

Media Release - Saturday March 6

A very significant black-type race-to-race double on Flemington’s Group 1 program provided another example of Emirates Park’s proven record as a successful breeder and seller of stakes winning gallopers.

Races 4 and 5 on the exceptional Flemington program witnessed Lightsaber lead all of the way in the Group 2 VRC Sires’ Produce Stakes (1400m), before Marboosha landed a decisive late blow to claim the Listed VRC Incognitus Stakes (1100m).

Lightsaber was bred and sold by Emirates Park - image Grant Courtney.

Both proudly carried the now very familiar ‘EP’ Emirates Park brand to victory, each being a product of the stud’s very successful breeding program.

Group 2 winning juvenile Lightsaber carried the colours of Blueblood Thoroughbreds to victory and now boasts the race record of three wins from four starts for $239,010 in earnings.

The Zoustar colt was sold on behalf of Emirates Park at the 2020 Inglis Classic Yearling Sale where he was secured by JCS Racing for $80,000. He was subsequently re-offered as a Ready-2-Run 2-year-old where he passed into the ownership of Bluebloods Thoroughbreds when then bought for $100,000.

Marboosha was bred and retained to race by Emirates Park.

Marboosha is a home-bred retained to race in Emirates Park’s colours before ultimately filtering into the stud’s broodmare band.

The black-type winning duo perfectly illustrate Emirates Park’s well earned reputation for breeding quality racehorses with the intention of competing in stakes race company. And with just as many going on to perform for other ownership groups as the breeding and racing operation itself.

Emirates Park offer colts by Capitalist, Dissident and their great stalwart Al Maher at the Magic Millions Adelaide Yearling Sale this coming week fresh off another showpiece race day at Flemington which endorsed their successful breed-to-race and breed-to-sell policies.
