$460,000 Toronado Colt Ends Premier Book 1 On a High

The last sixty lots of Inglis Premier Book 1 Yearling Sale were sold this morning with a colt by leading Victorian sire Toronado (IRE) topping the session when snapped up by Paul Moroney Bloodstock, who knows a thing or two about the sire having purchased his Flemington stakes-winner Shelby Cobra from Premier in 2019 for $130,000.
 


This time Moroney had to go a little higher given the rising stocks of Toronado, securing Lot 584, a colt from Dom Perion for $460,000.



Consigned by Stonehouse Thoroughbreds, the flashy bay with the four white feet is a half-brother to Group I VRC Victoria Derby winner Extra Brut and smart metro winner Fill the Flute.

Swettenham Stud’s Toronado has had 13 yearlings sell in Premier Book 1 for an average $146,923.

The champion son of High Chaparral has become the most popular sire in Victoria and covered 210 mares in 2020, his biggest ever book of mares.
