$240,000 for Pierro Colt Highlights Great Cross

Tara Madgwick - Tuesday March 2

Respected trainer Colin Little swung into action during the final session of the Inglis Premier Yearling Sale on Tuesday to secure a Pierro colt bred on the magic cross for $240,000.

Consigned by Three Bridges Thoroughbreds, the colt is the second foal of Colerne, who was trained by Little and showed above average ability winning her only two starts at Pakenham and Geelong before injury curtailed her career.

Colerne is not short of pedigree either being a half-sister by Redoute’s Choice to Group III winner Darci Be Good from the family of Group II winners What Can I Say, Only Words and Holy Snow.

“He’s a great colt and by a great stallion in Pierro,” Colin Little told Inglis‘s Jemma Cutting .

“His mother had plenty of ability and it’s such a great cross, Pierro over Redoute’s Choice.”

For the record the nick runs at 76% winners to runners and has produced nine stakes-winners from 42 runners, so is 21% stakes-winners to runners!

There was one other yearling in the sale bred this way, a colt from Amorphous that made $120,000 for Twin Hills Stud when bought by Alexander Racing / Roll The Dice Racing / Rogers Bloodstock.
