There were eight heats won by two year-olds at the Gosford trials on Monday morning including a dominant win for the half-sister by American Pharoah (USA) to Group I MRC Thousand Guineas winner Irish Lights.
Trained by Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott, Tattooist won her only previous trial at the same venue last month on a heavy track, but proved just as effective on a good surface.
Ridden by Tim Clark, she controlled the 1000m trial leading all the way to win by three lengths beating older horses in the Coolmore navy blue.
Recorded as a $500,000 Inglis Easter purchase from the Coolmore draft, Tattooist is the ninth foal from good producer Aspen Falls (USA), whose Group I winning daughter Irish Lights is the dam of Group II winner Omei Sword and Irish stakes-winner Lipizzaner.
The family was making news at the Inglis Premier Yearling Sale this morning with a colt by Dundeel from Ruby Falls, an unraced half-sister to Irish Lights, selling for $550,000 to Suman Hedge/ John O’Shea Racing.
