Don’t miss out, be a mate and nominate

Media Release - Thursday February 25

The deadline for nominating your colleague, employee, partner, friend - or anyone at all – for the thoroughbred industry’s most coveted staff awards is fast approaching.

The Australian Stud and Stable Staff Awards (SSSA) offer recognition and substantial cash prizes for anyone engaged in any area of the industry.

Click for more information and to nominate.

Whether a nominee works for a boss or works for themself, whether they volunteer or are full or part-time, whether they work in a stable or an office or drive a truck, there is a category in the Awards just for them.

Past winners have come from across the country and across the industry. They have been newcomers and lifetime workers, they’ve come from every age group and from the smallest business to the largest.

The 2021 Awards are judged in seven categories: Leadership, Dedication to Racing, Dedication to Breeding, Administrative or Ancillary Staff, Horsemanship, Thoroughbred Care and Welfare and there is a Newcomer Award for anyone who has worked in any area for less than three years.

From the seven individual Award winners one will receive the overall Excellence Award.

Each of the Awards, except the Newcomer, carries a prize of $10,000 to the winner and $3,000 to the runner up.

The Newcomer Award winner receives a $5,000 prize plus an educational experience with Godolphin in Dubai in 2022, while the winner of the Excellence Award receives $5,000 in addition to their category Award.

Nominations close Tuesday, 9 March, finalists will be announced on Monday, 10 May and the winners named on Wednesday, 26 May at a ceremony on the Gold Coast.
