Juvenile Trial Watch – Canterbury

Tara Madgwick - Tuesday February 23

A big set of trials at Canterbury on Tuesday morning included five heats won by two year-olds including a half-sister to dual Group I winning sprinter Loving Gaby.

Team Hawkes have been going quietly with Sebring filly Gstaad, but when asked for a bit more in this morning’s trial she responded in good style for Tommy Berry to win by a length.

Passed in at Inglis Easter shy of her $600,000 reserve and retained to race by her co-breeders Alan Bell and Kia Ora Stud, Gstaad is the second foal of Group II placed Maastricht, who was sold at the 2019 Inglis Chairman Sales for $2,250,000 to Coolmore/ James Bester Bloodstock .

Gstaad as a yearling

Her I Am Invincible yearling filly, a full sister to $2.2million earner Loving Gaby made $1.2million at Magic Millions in January when bought by Ciaron Maher Bloodstock/Nxt Level Syndication.

Maastricht has a colt foal by Justify (USA) and is back in foal to I Am Invincible.

Other juvenile heat winners were: Solar Winds (Zoustar), Lovemetender (Testa Rossa), Maurice’s Medad (Maurice (Jpn) and Mr Mozart (Snitzel).

See all the results with Sale Mail at Breednet and with video at Racing NSW.
