First Winner for Astern

Tara Madgwick - Tuesday February 23

Darley first season sire Astern put his first winner on the board on Tuesday at Bendigo, but he had to share the honour as first starter Seradess dead heated with the Godolphin homebred Frosted (USA) filly Cloudy.

The James Cummings trained filly Cloudy was stakes placed last spring and looked certain to score before the Mark Kavanagh trained filly Seradess unleashed her big finish to post the dead heat.

Seradess was a $50,000 Magic Millions purchase from the Mill Park draft for her trainer and is the first winner for stakes-placed Obsidian Dragon, a three-quarter sister to stakes-winner Danedina.

Seradess is the first winner for her sire Astern and Cloudy is the third Australian winner for Frosted joining Ingratiating and Frost Flowers.
