Outreach's Turk Warrior Wins $75,000 MM Tasmania 2YO Classic

Media Release - Sunday February 21

Outstanding juvenile Turk Warrior confirmed his status as the most exciting juvenile in Tasmania for many years with a stunning win in tonight's Magic Millions Tasmanian 2YO Classic (1200m) at Mowbray.

The son of Outreach was sensational again, extending his unbeaten run to four with the runaway three and a half length win.
Turk Warrior wins the MM Tasmania 2YO Classic.

The hulking gelding was sent out a prohibitive $1.07 favourite on the strength of three easy wins - including a last start easy win in the listed Gold Sovereign Stakes.

With another listed win at his previous start at Hobart in January it means the untapped youngster has won all his four starts including the last three which have all been juvenile features.

Turk Warrior, a graduate of the McCulloch family's Grenville Stud, was originally passed in at last year's Tasmanian Yearling Sale, before being purchased by Sayit Basol and joining the Glenn Stevenson stable.

The Wesley Vale trainer and rider Ismail Toker were not surprisingly all smiles after another brilliant win for Turk Warrior.

Turk Warrior looks set to head to the spelling paddock after his faultless campaign and while offers from Hong Kong swirl connections look to features on the mainland at his next preparation.

The win was a timely one for Grenville Stud who will present his half brother by resident sire Zululand as Lot 106 at tomorrow's 2021 Magic Millions Tasmanian Yearling Sale at Quercus Park.

Longford horseman Bill Ryan, who has been in the news with his stable star Still a Star booking a place in the All Star Mile, was thrilled with his progressive mare Take the Sit won the Magic Millions 3&4YO Classic (1400m).

A runner up at her most recent run at Hobart, Take the Sit came with a perfectly timed run under Bulent Muhcu to win by a length.

Take the Sit, a $15,000 Tasmanian Yearling Sale buy for Ryan from Armidale Stud, is a four-year-old daughter of Tough Speed.

Armidale Stud will present an Alpine Eagle half brother to Take the Sit at next month's Adelaide Yearling Sale at Morphettville.

Following the successful Mowbray meeting this evening, the scene is now set for tomorrow's 2021 Tasmanian Yearling Sale at Quercus Park on the outskirts of Launceston.

A quality line up of 123 lots is catalogued for the auction which commences at 12pm (AEDT). To view the online catalogue with photos and videos click here
