Winning Double for Capitalist and More to Come

Tara Madgwick - Sunday February 14

Australia’s leading first season sire Capitalist has been featuring prominently at the barrier trials in recent weeks indicating a flow of winners is imminent and he posted a trans-Tasman winning double last Saturday with exciting filly Mozzarella scoring a runaway win at Riccarton in New Zealand, while Tycoon Humma won on debut at Bendigo.

Trained by Nick Wigley and Kayla Milnes, Mozzarella was having her fourth start in the 1000m open juvenile event and bolted in to win by four lengths as a hot favourite.

Mozzarella has now won two races and is a homebred for Inglewood Stud, who bought her dam Parmalove carrying the Capitalist filly in utero for $230,000 from the Willow Park draft at the 2018 Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale.

A two time winning half-sister by Snitzel to stakes-winners Liesele and Loved Up, Parmalove was back in Australia last spring to be covered by Capitalist’s sire Written Tycoon after producing a colt by US Navy Flag (USA).

The John McArdle trained filly Tycoon Humma raced clear to win by more than two lengths over 1000m in a dominant debut victory.

A $240,000 Inglis Premier purchase for Redgum Racing from the Flinders Park draft, she is a half-sister to Group III winner Humma Humma and is the fourth winner from Bel Esprit mare Humma Mumma.

Tycoon Humma is the fifth winner for Capitalist (four in Australia and one in New Zealand), who has a growing list of Black Type performers headed by stakes-winner Profiteer and six other stakes performers!
