$625,000 Capitalist Colt Sets New Classic Mark

Tara Madgwick - Monday February 8

Newgate Farm's Capitalist set a new record for the Inglis Classic Yearling Sale when his colt from Mystical Tale sold for $600,000 on Sunday, but the new record was short lived as another colt by the Golden Slipper winning sire bested that mark on Monday when selling for $625,000.

Consigned by Kitchwin Hills, the handsome chestnut was bought by George Moore Bloodstock and is the first foal of two time winning Casino Prince mare Theatric, who comes from the family of Group I winner and $5.8million winner Pierata.

“He was by far the best horse of the sale and by one of the best 2YO sires in the country,” George Moore told Inglis.

“He’ll be nominated for the Inglis Race series and will race here in Australia.”

The record breaking colt was bred by Richard and Kim McClenahan of Mullaglass Stud, who are best known for breeding Group I winner and exciting young sire Hellbent, who was sold at this sale in 2014 for $95,000.
