First Win for Finche Half-Brother

Tara Madgwick - Monday February 1

Top class stayer Finche (GB) will be missing from the autumn carnival with the Chris Waller stable announcing last week the big chestnut had been sidelined with a tendon injury, but for his younger half-brother Repertoire it’s onwards and upwards after breaking the ice for the first time overnight in the UK.

A five year-old gelding by Bated Breath, Repertoire had five starts for two placings for Juddmonte in the care of Andre Fabre before being sold at the 2020 Tattersalls Autumn Horse in Training Sale for 50,000 guineas to Blandford Bloodstock.

Now with David Simcock, Repertoire made his first appearance for his new connections in the seven furlong Novice Stakes at Wolverhampton and ran out an easy three and a half length winner as a short priced favourite.

He is the sixth winner from outstanding producer Binche, who has left not only Finche but also Group I winners Proviso and Byword.

Repertoire may have a way to go to emulate the success of his famous siblings, but he's made his new connections very happy with his first win!
