With two yearlings sharing the honours at $310,000, the Book Two and Book Three sales helped push the sale gross to over $211 million - smashing last year's record of $187.5 million - becoming the highest grossing yearling sale in Southern Hemisphere history.
$310,000 Deep Field half-brother to Alpine Edge.

Colts by Iffraaj and Deep Field proved the day's highest sellers when they were both knocked down for $310,000.

The Iffraaj colt (Lot 1186), from a half sister to Singapore star Be Bee, was offered by Bhima Thoroughbreds and knocked down to Hong Kong's Golden River Investments.

Later in the day the Deep Field half brother to outstanding local juvenile Alpine Edge (Lot 1244) was purchased by John Morrisey from the draft of Yarramalong Park.

The Book Two component of the Gold Coast Yearling Sale rounded out with a gross of over $13.7 million and an average price of $60,353 and clearance rate of 83%.

The Gold Coast Summer Racehorse Sale held following the yearlings grossed $812,000 with all 14 lots selling at an average price of $58,000.

Stakes performer Hilo topped the Godolphin draft when the four time winner sold to Heinrich Bloodstock for $220,000. The Heinrich team also purchased the two next highest sellers - Deference for $150,000 and Chilliwack for $100,000.

Some $212,560,500 was grossed across all sales over the week at an average price of $206,169, a median of $150,000 and a clearance rate of over 87 per cent.

"Over the last week we have witnessed something very special," Magic Millions Managing Director Barry Bowditch said. "From the first lot on Tuesday until the final lot today it's been truly remarkable."

"The thirst for quality was intense. We worked hard in getting the best possible buying bench to the sale and to be involved remotely and they have responded in spirited style."

"From the time entries were received and our team conducted inspections across Australasia we knew we had been able to assemble an outstanding line up of yearlings. The vendors brought their best and the buyers recognised this clearly."

"A lot of hurdles were placed before us in the weeks leading into the sale and the whole Magic Millions team had to be incredibly dynamic. I am so proud of how they stepped up to the plate to drive what has been an outstanding event."

"It has been a remarkable week in the history of Australian thoroughbred sales and we are proud to have played our role in delivering for buyers and vendors," Bowditch added.
