Juvenile Trial Watch – Werribee

Tara Madgwick - Tuesday January 12

Boom Written Tycoon filly Enthaar could not have been more impressive when winning the Group III ATC Gimcrack Stakes back in the spring and she tuned up for autumn goals at the Werribee barrier trials on Tuesday morning and she wasn’t the only Written Tycoon 2YO to win a heat.

Trained by Ciaron Maher and David Eustace, Enthaar was in a class of her own, cruising along in her 800m heat to win by two and half lengths in 46.78 seconds under Mark Zahra.

A homebred for Emirates Park, Enthaar did have a half-sister by I Am Invincible entered for Magic Millions, but not surprisingly she has been withdrawn.

The Maher and Eustace team also put the polish on earlier heat winner Hauraki Gulf, a Written Tycoon colt who scored by more than a length at his first outing in the Sun Stud colours beating Regulus, the full brother to dual Group I winner and now successful sire Star Witness.

Regulus was also having his first outing and is trained by Danny O'Brien as was his famous brother Star Witness, the Champion Two and Three Year Old Sprinting Colt of  his generation.

A $175,000 Magic Millions purchase from the Rushton Park draft for Sun Bloodstock, Hauraki Gulf is a half-brother to six winners including stakes-winner All Too Royal from Group I winner Bel Mer.

Hauraki Gulf as a yearling.

Other 2YO heat winners were Patmos Island (Dissident), Decent Raine (Dissident) and Toffee Street (Street Boss (USA).
