Magic Performances on Day 1 of Carnival

The scene is set for next weekend's $10.25 million The Star Gold Coast Magic Millions Raceday after a string of quality performances across the card on Day One of the Carnival on Saturday.

Animate, Stolen Jade and Yao Dash proved too classy in their respective $250,000 Magic Millions feature races on the same card that youngsters Swift Witness and Finance Tycoon impressed and Paradee gave her connections a massive payday. 

Trainer Kris Lees and the connections of Animate were thrilled when their talented four-year-old scored a brave win in the $250,000 Magic Millions Country Cup under Nash Rawiller. 

The son of Animal Kingdom was sent out the $4.40 second elect on the strength of an eye catching third to Eleven Eleven and Yao Dash in the recent Magic Millions Wyong 3&4YO Stakes.

Animate was a $115,000 Gold Coast Yearling Sale purchase for Australian Bloodstock from the draft of Arrowfield Stud and his prizemoney swept was $417,000 with his victory today.

Stolen Jade extended her unbeaten run this campaign to four when she comfortably won the $250,000 Magic Millions Rising Stars (F&M) for trainer Clarry Conners and jockey Brad Stewart.

The daughter of So You Think has been a revelation for connections and today she boosted her earnings past $292,000 with a three quarter length success.

Stolen Jade was a $120,000 Gold Coast Yearling Sale for Conners' Victory Lodge from Baramul Stud in 2018. 

Just over half an hour later Yao Dash scored a brilliant win in the $250,000 Magic Millions Rising Stars (C,G&E) for trainers Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott and jockey Nash Rawiller.

The heavily backed favourite got a split in the straight and unleashed a paralysing burst to hit the front and race away late.

A $90,000 Gold Coast Yearling Sale purchase for Dynamic Syndications, Yao Dash gave the Newhaven Park team plenty to cheer about with the victory.

Newhaven, who sold Yao Dash, will offer a Spirit of Boom half sister next week at the 2021 Gold Coast Yearling Sale. She is Lot 680. Yao Dash meanwhile will back up in next Saturday's $1 million Pacific Fair Magic Millions Cup.

Paradee provided owner Robert Anderson with a massive payday when she scored a deserved feature race win in today's $250,000 The TAB Wave (1800m).

Prepared by Danny O'Brien, the daughter of Epaulette collected $145,000 in prizemoney and also a $200,000 Magic Millions bonus for being a paid up race series runner in the feature.

Paradee was coming off three stakes race placings in Melbourne and camped just behind the leader Frosty Rocks before edging past him over the final 100 metres.

O'Brien said the mare, who was purchased from the Bowness Stud draft for $240,000, would back up next week where she holds two entries on the big Magic Millions Raceday. 

Co-trainers Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott who tasted feature success with Yao Dash, were in the winner's stall earlier when exciting youngster Swift Witness won the Aquis Gold Pearl.

The filly was stepping out for just the second time and was sent out one of the fancies after a debut third in the Magic Millions Wyong 2YO Classic (RL) last month.

A $260,000 Gold Coast Yearling Sale purchase last year for connections from Widden Stud, Swift Witness will contest next Saturday's $2 million The Star Gold Coast Magic Millions 2YO Classic.

Widden Stud, who sold Swift Witness, will present her full brother as Lot 871 at next week's 2021 Gold Coast Yearling Sale.

Another youngster heading to the two million dollar 2YO Classic is the Tom Dabernig and Ben Hayes trained Finance Tycoon (Written Tycoon) who defied a betting drift to win the Aquis Gold Nugget.

A winner of the Group Three Maribyrnong Plate at her previous start, Finance Tycoon was able to run down Breeders Plate winner Shaquero to score.

Finance Tycoon was a $150,000 purchased by McKeever Bloodstock on behalf of owners Antony Choi and Kaiser Chan at last year's Gold Coast Yearling Sale from Eureka Stud.

Eureka will present his half brother by Spirit of Boom as Lot 211 on Day Two of this year's sale on Wednesday.
