Victorian based Daisy Hill are presenting a draft of five at the upcoming Magic Millions Yearling sale including a Merchant Navy colt from the family of Saturday's brilliant two year-old winner Swift Witness, now a leading contender for the Magic Millions 2YO Classic..

All yearlings were bred and raised at the Doreen property and the team are eagerly anticipating the upcoming sale following good feedback from the on farm parades..

“We haven’t had on farm parades before, but they have been quite strong, I wish we had more parades but I won’t complain. I am not sure people know where Doreen is, but once people realise it is only a quick stop on the way to Nagambie, we have had leading trainers and syndicators come and visit us,” Shane Freeman of Daisy Hill commented.

The team have been working hard to ensure their draft exceeds expectations when inspected by buyers.

“The yearlings were brought in and adapted really well. They were all prepped in a natural environment without tight circles in their work. They have been treated like horses rather than pets and have come through their prep with flying colours,” Shane Freeman commented.

Lot 809 of the draft is a colt by Merchant Navy  from So Pristine. Not only does Shane have a high opinion of this horse but so too do the leading buyers who have inspected him.

“This horse is the spitting image of Merchant Navy – even those who have inspected him have commented about the similarity of him to his father. He is quite a classic horse and has been bred back to the Danehill x Zabeel cross, so there is a lot of Zabeel about him,” Shane commented.

The colt is from Group II winner So Pristine, who is a half-sister to the dam of Swift Witness and stakes-placed Terminology, so there is a good mix of speed and stamina on the page. 

Daisy Hill have been having a great run of success at the minute with 70% runners to winners off the farm.

“We have had some modest horses get the job done but a winner is a winner and we have some quality horses coming through,” Shane said.

No doubt this success will translate to the ring when the auction begins on Tuesday.
