Not A Single Doubt's Queen Of Wizardry Heads to MM

Mark Smith - Saturday January 2

There was very little money for the Not A Single Doubt debutant Queen Of Wizardry in Saturday's Magic Millions Hcp for two-year-olds at Eagle Farm, but she blasted a field of Magic Millions hopefuls out of the water in a last to first performance.

Queen Of Wizardry (Magic Millions)

Ridden by Stephanie Thornton, the Annabel Neasham-trained filly was still standing the field up a start at the 300m. She powered home down the outside to defeat the Shooting To Win gelding Win Burn by a long-neck with the odds-on favourite, Fastnet Rock colt Ranch Hand a long-head back in third.

Thornton said it was onwards and upwards to the $2million Magic Millions 2yo Classic at the Gold Coast on January 16.

“She’s got a very sharp turn of foot, and the 1200m suited her today,” Thornton said.

“All credit to Annabel and her team.

“She was very professional and knew what it was all about. The blinkers were a good addition and kept her mind on the job.

“We were in a bit of trouble at the 300m, but when she saw a bit of daylight she came down the outside and nothing was going to beat her. Fingers crossed for the Magic Millions.”

Queen Of Wizardry was a $400,000 Gold Coast Yearling

Queen Of Wizardry was a $400,000 purchase by Aquis Farm out of the Tyreel Stud draft at the Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale.

She is the first winner from two to race out of the handy Encosta de Lago mare Miss Hufflepuff a sister to Liberator the Champion Stayer in Hong Kong in 2011-12, and to the stakes-placed Pink Siris the dam of the Group II BRC Doomben Roses winner Etana (Shamus Award).

Purchased by Belmont B'stock (FBAA)/Tyreel Stud for $470,000 at the 2017 Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale when in foal to Exceed And Excel, Miss Hufflepuff will have a Sebring filly in the Tyreel Stud draft heading to the upcoming Gold Coast Yearling Sale.

Miss Hufflepuff has a filly foal by The Autumn Sun and was covered by The Everest winner Yes Yes Yes in 2020.

Tyreel will offer this Sebring half-sister to Queen Of Wizardry at the Magic Millions
