Juvenile Trial Watch – Randwick

Tara Madgwick - Tuesday December 22

Five heats for juveniles at Randwick on Tuesday morning produced some interesting winners including a Sebring colt from the famed Scandinavia family that has produced superstars Black Caviar, All Too Hard and now Ole Kirk.

In contrast to the majority of Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott trained youngsters that begin fast and keep going, Ransakka stepped away from an outside gate a little slowly for Brenton Avdulla and was allowed to find his feet.

The widest runner turning for home, he picked up pace all the way down the straight, passing horse after horse until forging clear on the line to win by half a length over his stablemate State Capital (Capitalist) .

That was the first trial for Ransakka and was only a 742m dash, so I think we’ll all be interested to see a bit more of this horse when he steps out next.

A $250,000 Inglis Easter purchase for his trainers from the Bhima Thoroughbreds draft he runs for a syndicate that includes his breeder Robert Crabtree of Dorrington Farm.

Ransakka as a yearling

Ransakka is the third foal of Group II winner Scandiva, a half-sister by Fastnet Rock to Group I winning sire Magnus and to the dam of Group I winners Black Caviar and All Too Hard, with this season’s Group I ATC Golden Rose and Caulfield Guineas winner Ole Kirk also on the page.

Other heat winners were Four Moves Ahead (Snitzel), Sachello (Headwater), Tilianam (Savabeel), Chameleon Choice (Extreme Choice).
