Deep Field's Isotope Downs Away Game

Tara Madgwick - Saturday December 19

Progressive Deep Field filly Isotope was taking on an A grader in Away Game in the Listed BRC Gold Edition Stakes (1200m) at Doomben on Saturday and she proved her class when scoring a thrilling last stride victory.

Away Game was having her first start since finishing fifth in the Group I SAJC Robert Sangster Stakes back in May and looked a certain winner when she booted clear down the straight to open up a good margin on the field.

Under a cool ride from Ryan Maloney, Isotope unleashed a big run late to charge home and win by a head over the 2020 Magic Millions 2YO Classic winner Away Game.

“She’s just a bloody good filly,” said her trainer Tony Gollan.

“She’s cool, calm and collected, I think if there were any worries about her getting 1400m and relaxing, we’d have no worries after today.

“I can’t speak highly enough of this filly. She can cool her jets now for the next four weeks and you won’t see her again until Millions day.”

A $170,000 Magic Millions purchase for Gollan Rcg/J Foote Bstock/Black Soil Bstock from the draft of Daandine Stud, Isotope has four wins and two seconds from seven starts with prizemoney just shy of $300,000.

Bred by Daandine Stud, she is the first winner for Great Dansaar a half-sister by Choisir to Group I winner Yankee Rose from the family of New Zealand Derby winner Redoute’s Dancer.

Daandine sold the current two year-old from Great Dansaar, a filly by Winning Rupert, at Magic Millions this year for $90,000 to Darby Racing / De Burgh Equine and she has been named Rupertaar.

Daandine Stud will offer the yearling half-brother by Sebring to Isotope as Lot 357 at Magic Millions.

Great Dansaar been covered not surprisingly again this spring by Deep Field, who also had an eye-catching winner at Randwick.

The Mark Newnham trained four year-old Big Parade was favourite for the Benchmark 88 event over 1200m at his second run back from a spell and was super impressive in winning by more than three lengths.

Gelded during his last spell, Big Parade has won four of nine starts earning nearly $180,000 and looks to be a horse very much on the up.

A $160,000 Inglis Classic purchase from the Middlebrook Valley Lodge draft, Big Parade has a yearling half-sister by Hellbent that will be offered at the same sale by the same vendor in 2021 as Lot 555.
