Toorak Toff Mare Tastes More Stakes Success

Tara Madgwick - Wednesday December 16

Winner of the Group IIII Hobart Cup earlier this year, quality staying mare Toorak Affair indicated she’ll be in for a big summer carnival in Tasmania when taking out the Listed Conquering Stakes (1400m) at Launceston on Wednesday evening.

The Michael Trinder trained daughter of Toorak Toff swept home to score a short neck win at her second run back from a spell.

A $50,000 Magic Millions purchase from the Alva Stud draft, Toorak Affair has won 13 races and over $419,000 in prizemoney.

Bred in Tasmania by Alva Stud, Toorak Affair is the best of two winners from Smooth Return, a winning Redoute’s Choice mare from the family of Group II winner Gypsy Diamond and this season’s Group III VRC Maribyrnong Plate winner Finance Tycoon.

Smooth Return has foaled this spring producing a colt by Akeed Mofeed (GB).
